WHAT WE DO
LocalNow is a last minute ticket service helping venues and promoters fill otherwise empty seats. We aggregate entertainment offers (ticket discounts, promotions and specials) into a directory with maps and make them available to local consumers on the web, the social web (Facebook, Twitter, music sites) and soon, on iPhones.
BACKGROUND
Last-minute discounts have traditionally worked well for airfares and hotel reservations at sites like Hotwire, Orbitz, Priceline, Expedia, etc. With LocalNow you no longer have to travel just to get a 'last minute' deal! Now you can find true last minute entertainment tickets right in your backyard.
For business owners, LocalNow provides a promotional targeting platform for venues, promoters, performers and ticketing companies to present local offers based on audience interests, social networks, event calendars. The proliferation of social networking services like Facebook and Twitter and location-aware cell phones offers a unique opportunity for entertainment businesses to target their offers to event-goers who care, who are in the vicinity and capable of acting on an offer.
WHO WE ARE
Brian Smith founded LocalNow in 2009 and has worked at several startups in sales and business development capacities over the past 18 years. In the 1990’s Brian helped guide revenues at Macromedia and Intershop from under $5M to over $100M, contributing to successful IPOs at both. Most recently Brian was the first business-facing employee of Web 2.0 local search startup Zvents, where he ran business development and established partnerships with 100’s of newspapers, web portals and ticketing agencies. Previous startup experience includes Personify, Omniva (acquired by Liquid Machines), Shinka Technologies, and Dynaware. Brian began his career in MCI’s Boston office.
Ragnar Kruse is an advisor to LocalNow. Ragnar is founder and CEO of Smaato www.smaato.com, a pioneer and leading advertising platform for mobile devices. Prior to Smaato, Ragnar was an early member of Intershop Communications, a worldwide leader in E-Commerce software solutions, as VP of Sales and Marketing where he was responsible for partnerships and contracts with key companies in the telecommunications and mobile sectors, including Deutsche Telekom, Telecom New Zealand, Telstra, Telia, Cable & Wireless, Siemens, T-Online, T-Mobile, France Telecom, HP and SUN.
David Silverman is an investor in The Independent www.theindependentsf.com, one of San Francisco’s premiere live music venues and acts as an advisor to LocalNow. David has worked in sales and business development for several prominent software startups including Aggregate Knowledge, ATG, and Intershop. David’s background in ecommerce, personalization and targeted advertising, coupled with his passion for live music helps contribute to LocalNow’s product strategy and go-to-market planning.
